A SLOW FOOD CHRISTMAS – ITALIAN-AMERICAN STYLE

Linguini FINI December 15th. 2012

1ST Floor L Place 139 Queen’s Road Central

We asked you to keep the date free - and we hope you have, because we have organized through Slow Food Committee member and one of the owners of Linguini FINI, Todd Darling, for a private Xmas dinner with the focus on traditional Italian American cuisine.

But, this is a Xmas feast with a unique twist.  Read on!

In real Slow Food tradition Todd has promised us a menu with a focus on local organic and seasonal vegetable produce and handmade pasta rolled daily on their La Monferrina pasta machines.  However, those of you who are familiar with Linguini FINI will know the meat focus is on pork in all its forms, from cuts to salumis. Now what does that mean for us?

Todd has suggested the very Slow Food theme of “Nothing goes to waste” for our Xmas celebration.  The nothing goes to waste formula means everything about a pig will be on the plate from tails to ears.  This is locally grown pig from the famous Wah Kee farm, one of the most humane and hygienic pig farms we have ever seen.  This pig farm was visited by a Slow Food delegation earlier this year - and if you are going to eat pork, look for Wah Kee!

So expect hearty pastas with rich Italian-American versions of traditional sauces, large bowls of steaming hot and  fresh, organic vegetables and of course piggy bits from nose to tail including homemade house-cured Salumi from Linguini FINI's own walk-in ageing room.

To enliven things up we are dressing up the room with lots of traditional Xmas decoration, but to add a bit more personalization we are asking each guest to bring along something veryChristmasy to add to the room and table settings.  Now this could be a traditional Xmas candle, pine cones, bowls of nuts, cookies, whatever you feel will brighten up your own Xmas experience!

Cost for members including an introductory top quality Cava from Spain and a complimentary glass of wine is HK$500 (normally over HK$600!).
